"Merlyn" as he is known, is our Senior Stallion. He has been the focal point in our breeding program. We are now breeding his fillies to our Junior Stallion, Darden Speedy Connection. With his outstanding qualities and achievements, Merlyn has contributed to making Darden Welsh Ponies a success. Merlyn's get throughout the country successfully show in Welsh, Hunter, Dressage, and Sport Pony Divisions.  He is sired by the legendary Talybont Quicksilver (LOM Sire - 2002) and crossed with the equally outstanding mare Welmore Grace. Both have produced futurity champions and graced many a winners circle in performance and halter.  Farmore Publicity is a one-in-a-million sire. He was awarded his Sire Legion of Merit in 1999, an award earned by his offspring in the Welsh Show Ring. His sons and daughters who have been shown have proven they do well in conformation and then come back and do even better in performance. There are many Regional and National Year-End Winners. Merlyn is a stallion who does everything:  English/Western Pleasure, Trail, Hunter, In-Hand, Jumping, and Driving as well as a mount for riding lessons. At the Nationals in St. Louis in 1998, Merlyn was shown in Welsh Reining...and he won! He has a wonderful, personable temperament with the most laid-back disposition.  Merlyn breaks all the stereotypes about what stallions typically are while proving everything he can be.  Many of Merlyn's offsping left the Welsh ring in pursuit of the hunter ring. In the past years, Farmore Special Edition, KGF Girl Friday, Goldhills All Shook Up, Bailiwick Talent Scout, Willowynds On a Whym, Goldhills Masquerade, G. Bright Reflection, G. Buckbrush, Farmore Spellbound and others have earned such prestigious titles as Southwest Region and/or National year end awards. Merlyn has been a champion or reserve champion in Section B trail and hunter. In addition, he ranks in the top ten in National Sire Ratings:  third in 2004 and seventh in 2006.  Merlyn continues to produce a ratio of 60% fillies to 40% colts with most of the foals being the color of the dam or some variation.
